CPS Field Trips

Cobb Photographic Society offers it's members group field trips for photo opportunities. Most trips trips are local and will last 4-12 hours. Some trips are overnight trips. Field trips are a great way to get out and take pictures in different locales while socializing with a group of fellow photographers. Opportunities to learn from others as you shoot and share results with each other, during competitions and here online. Some trips will require additional admission fees, but often we are able to get lower group rates. For information regarding a field trip, contact the Field Trip Committee Chair - Ralph Burr at trips@cobbphotosociety.com.

 Upcoming Field Trip Schedule

Sunday, April 30th - Providence Canyon

The Grand Canyon of the South!
 http://www.gastateparks.org/ProvidenceCanyon

‘Georgia’s “Little Grand Canyon” is a testament to the power of man’s influence on the land. Massive gullies as deep as 150 feet were caused simply by poor farming practices during the 1800s, yet today they make some of the prettiest photographs within the state. The canyon soil’s pink, orange, red and purple hues make a beautiful natural painting at this quiet park.’

Some Details:

Sunrise on April 30, 2017 at Providence Canyon is 6:54 a.m. give or take a few seconds. The park opens at 7:00 a.m. The meeting time shall be at 9:00 a.m. at the Visitor’s center so we can get the requisite group photo. Do not let this keep you from arriving early should you wish to partake in the early morning light.

This area requires a bit of personal preparation to stay safe and comfortable.  Wear good hiking shoes.  Bring WATER to carry with you while you photograph.  It probably wouldn’t hurt to stay with someone else or in small groups.

Hope to see you there.

-Ralph
